EMILIO SAURA

BIOGRAPHY

Emilio began his musical studies when he was six years old. Once he finished his percussion bachelor in "Conservatorio Superior de Musica Manuel Massotti Littel de Murcia" (Spain), he felt the need to combine the technical abilities of percussion with his artistic vision connecting classical percussion, especially marimba, with flamenco music. Therefore, Emilio was admitted in the Master of Contemporary Percussion at Codarts-Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Rotterdam (Netherlands) where he developped his idea.

At the same time, he was selected to be the marimbist in the Musical of The Lion King in Den Haag (Netherlands), working next to one of the most important icons in the percussion field in Europe: Mike Schaperclaus.

Emilio Saura took part in the recording of the CD "Cast Album of The Lion King" as well as the recording of the CD "Liquid Anatomy" with the group Alkaloid.

In 2018, he was selected to perform in the "XI cycle of young soloist" in Murcia (Spain), playing a program composed of marimba solo repertoire and his own arrangements.
